AA Founders Writings

The trustees’ Literature Committee of the General Service Board of Alcoholics Anonymous is asking for input from all A.A. groups regarding suggested changes to the writings of the founders of A.A. In a recent letter distributed to delegates to the General Service Conference, the committee shared suggested questions to help inform discussions that will ideally take place at the Group, District, Area, and Conference levels.  This call is being made in response to a Committee Consideration that came out of the 73rd General Service Conference last April requesting that the Trustees’ Literature Committee explore ways to seek input from the Fellowship with respect to changes to literature written by A.A.’s founders.

AA like to hear from you – the top of the triangle! While we hope that the suggested questions will help to spark thoughtful sharing and discussion, please feel free to add questions that we may not have thought of that you feel may best inform the discussion. Most of all, we are grateful for and thank you for your participation.

Please be as concise as possible when sharing your input. Use the VAC form or document as a starting point for both group discussions and submission of comments. Comments can come from both Groups and individuals!

Public Information Survey Re-Ignited

Purpose of the Survey

The Working Theory is based on multiple observations indicating that a sizeable portion of our membership may never have shared AA with a potential member; that a possible reason for this may be fear and apprehension about doing so. The purpose of the PI Survey is to test these observations. Is the working theory true or false? Are many AA’s uncomfortable making themselves available for 12 th Step conversations and/or referrals from family, friends, and coworkers etc. who encounter problem drinkers in their day-to-day life?

The committee hopes to identify areas that the Virginia Area Public Information Committee can assist members to feel more comfortable with sharing AA from right where we’re at in our recovery.

1. Please Open & Save the survey packet [PDF].

2. Please read the Introduction and the Public Information Survey documents thoroughly

3. Complete the survey and submit, following the instructions in the packet.

Thank you for taking the time to help us with this! Your Virginia Area Public Information Committee
